FAMU Career Expo Article: Resumes, portfolios, business attire and business cards is what the Florida A&M University students worked to perfect as they prepared for the Fall 2013 FAMU Career Expo.

The career expo took place September 25, 2013 from 9:30am-3:30pm inside of The Al Lawson Gymnasium.

Over 100 companies attended the career expo. Companies such as City Furniture, Proctor and Gamble, Johnson & Johnson and PepsiCo. to name a few.

"This is how I received my job. I met the Tyson food company members, gathered information and made sure to always stay in touch until graduation. I'm so proud that I could come back to FAMU to help guide my fellow rattlers," said FAMU alumnus and Tyson food company employee Carmichael Caldwell.

Eager spirits filled the room as the students interacted with the companies that attend the expo in hopes to find new talent to fit their company.

"I love career fairs. It's such a great opportunity to get internships as well as jobs. I've had internships from two companies after attending career fairs," said 3rd year FAMU SBI student Erica Thomas, 20, Detroit, Michigan.

The Career Expo gave FAMU students the ability to practice interacting with possible players, resume shaping, public speaking and the craft of building professional relationships.

"FAMU always has great career expos. I always learn a lot and get the opportunity to sharpen my skills with potential employers," said FAMU SBI Masters program student Alyson Calloway, Miami, Fla. 23.

The next FAMU Career Expo will be held spring semester 2014.
